Individualised mobility, mindful movement and recovery for active bodies
Private sessions in Pure Yin Yoga and self-myofascial release using therapy balls (MyoYin) offer an individualised approach to mobility, physical tension and recovery.
Traditional Yin Yoga relies on passive, floor-based postures held for several minutes, using props to adapt each shape to your individual skeletal architecture. Combined with targeted MyoYin, the practice applies sustained mechanical stress to connective tissues to improve functional flexibility and usable range of motion, release persistent physical tension, and support joint health. It provides a practical, low-risk environment to work with your body's structural limits and achieve meaningful physical progress tailored to your unique frame.
My approach is grounded in individual anatomy, function over form and mindful, appropriate loading. There are no shapes to force, no arbitrary alignment ideals and no pressure to achieve a particular level of flexibility.
Location
Private sessions generally run for 75 minutes in my dedicated home yoga space in Kalamunda—a calm, quiet place for individualised attention and focused practice. Premium mats, bolsters, blankets and other necessary props, along with MFR balls, are provided.
Rates
Private Session (75 mins): $135. Includes 60 minutes of individualised practice and 15 minutes for consultation and discussion, before and/or after the practice as needed.
Key Components of a Private Session
Individual Anatomical Adaptation: Bodies differ in skeletal structure, joint anatomy and available range of motion. Postures are adapted to your individual proportions, movement history, comfort and tolerance, rather than asking your body to conform to an idealised shape.
Targeted Tissue Loading: Sustained postures apply controlled mechanical stress to connective tissues, including fascia, providing an opportunity to explore tissue tolerance and support improvements in flexibility and mobility.
Targeted Myofascial Release: Specialised myofascial release (self-massage) balls apply focused pressure to muscular trigger points and areas of tension, helping ease tightness, improve mobility and increase range of motion.
Consent-Led Hands-On Assists: Where appropriate, optional hands-on contact may include gentle traction, anchoring, or resistance applied over clothing or a towel to help you explore a posture or movement. Touch is never skin-on-skin, is always discussed beforehand with your explicit consent, and is never used to force a particular shape or alignment.
Mindful Awareness & Focus: Long-held postures provide a practical environment to train present-moment attention. Rather than fighting active thoughts, you learn to observe physical sensations and mental states with non-reactive alertness, developing psychological resilience during discomfort.
Nervous System Regulation: Evidence-based breathing techniques support parasympathetic activity, shifting your body into a calmer physiological state to aid stress management and recovery.
Who This Approach Supports
Athletes & Active Movers: Runners, cyclists, lifters, hikers and sports enthusiasts seeking a complementary practice for active recovery, improved joint range of motion and greater movement options.
Adults Navigating Age-Related Changes: Anyone noticing reduced flexibility, joint stiffness or changes in ease of movement who wants to maintain mobility and move with greater ease as they age.
People in Sedentary Occupations: Office workers, truck drivers and others who spend long periods sitting at work and experience hip or shoulder tightness, physical discomfort or reduced ease of movement.
Those New to Yin Yoga: People who would like individual guidance and the confidence to join a group class, or who prefer to begin with a few private sessions before practising alongside others.
Private Yin Yoga and MFR sessions are intended to complement, not replace, appropriate medical care or injury rehabilitation. Please seek advice from a suitably qualified health professional if you have an injury or medical condition that may affect your participation.
