Individualised deep rest, relaxation and recovery for over-stimulated bodies and minds

Private sessions in Restorative Yoga offer a fully individualised environment for deep physical rest and autonomic recovery.

Known as "active relaxation", Restorative Yoga uses supported positions where your body rests completely on bolsters, blankets and blocks. Unlike Yin Yoga—which applies mechanical loading to connective tissues—the sole objective of Restorative Yoga is to disarm muscular tension and trigger parasympathetic down-regulation, counterbalancing chronic stress.

By eliminating physical effort and sensory demand, this practice restores your capacity for deep physiological rest. It is particularly valuable during periods of burnout, fatigue, injury recovery, or significant life transitions.

Location

Private sessions run for 75 minutes in my dedicated home yoga space in Kalamunda—a calm, quiet setting for individual attention and focused practice. Premium bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, mats and all necessary props are provided.

Rates

Private Session (75 mins): $135. Includes 60 minutes of individualised practice and 15 minutes for consultation and discussion, before and/or after the practice as needed.

Key Components of a Private Session

  • Anatomically Informed Prop Placement: Restorative Yoga is not simply lying back on a bolster. Props are arranged with technical precision under and around your body to fill anatomical gaps, eliminate pressure points, and remove muscular strain. Fully supporting your frame signals safety to the nervous system, helping ease high-alert stress states.

  • Consent-Led Hands-On Assists: Where appropriate, optional hands-on contact may include gentle grounding touch or carefully applied pressure over clothing or blankets to enhance physical comfort. Touch is never skin-on-skin, is always discussed beforehand with your explicit consent, and is never used to force a particular shape or alignment.

  • Nervous System Down-Regulation: Controlled breathing techniques and quiet stillness encourage parasympathetic activity, shifting your body into a calmer physiological state to aid recovery.

  • Time for Stillness: With no sequences to remember, movements to perform, or goals to achieve, you have dedicated space to slow down, turn your attention inward, and simply rest.

Who This Approach Supports

  • Chronically Stressed Professionals and Carers: People managing competing demands, substantial mental loads or ongoing life pressures who need dedicated time to rest and decompress.

  • People Navigating Life Transitions or Exhaustion: Those moving through demanding periods of life who feel depleted, overwhelmed or in need of a gentle, non-exertional practice.

  • Those Who Find It Difficult to Relax: People who struggle to switch off, sit still or give themselves permission to rest, and who would benefit from a quiet, carefully supported environment.

  • Active Movers Who Need Rest: Runners, lifters and other active people who want to complement their training with a practice focused on rest rather than physical exertion.

Private Restorative Yoga sessions are intended to complement, not replace, appropriate medical care or mental health treatment. If you have an injury or medical condition that may affect your participation, please consult a suitably qualified health professional.
