Private Yin Yoga for individualised mobility, whole-body ease and considered recovery

There's more to Yin Yoga than simply slowing down and relaxing. At its heart is a purposeful practice of applying gentle, sustained stress (load) to the body's connective tissues through passive, floor-based postures held over time.

In private sessions, this practice is shaped around your individual anatomy. Using carefully selected props and an understanding of skeletal variation, we explore appropriate levels of sensation and loading without forcing your body into predetermined shapes.

My approach is grounded in one simple principle: function over form. Your body isn't something to correct or make fit an ideal. It's something to understand, work with and respect.

The practice is quiet and unhurried, but never without intention. There's room for stillness, awareness and nervous system regulation, alongside meaningful exploration of mobility and movement.

Location

Sessions run for 75 minutes in my dedicated home yoga space in Kalamunda, in the beautiful Perth Hills. A peaceful, welcoming environment for individual attention and a practice tailored entirely to you.

Depending on your needs, a session may incorporate:

  • Anatomy-informed postures: Positions adapted to your skeletal structure, proportions and movement capabilities, using props to find appropriate and effective ways of working with your body.

  • Connective tissue loading: Sustained postures that apply gentle, intentional stress to connective tissues, exploring mobility and the body's available ranges of movement.

  • Myofascial release: Specialised therapy balls to target areas of persistent muscular tension and sensitivity.

  • Mindful awareness & breathing: Time to observe sensation, develop body awareness and use simple breathing practices to encourage a settled, calm state.

  • Optional hands-on assistance: Gentle traction or anchoring, always with your prior consent and never to force a position.

  • Optional massage & aromatherapy: A focused Swedish massage for the neck and shoulders can be included at the end of your session. Essential oils may also be diffused or incorporated into massage, according to your preferences and sensitivities.

Who is it for?

  • Athletes & active movers: Active people wanting to complement their training, improve flexibility, explore different movement patterns and address areas of accumulated tension.

  • Adults navigating age-related changes: Those noticing changes with age who want to maintain mobility, navigate stiffness and continue moving with confidence.

  • People who spend long hours sitting: Whether at work or home, those experiencing stiffness, tension or restricted movement from sedentary routines who would like to regain greater ease and freedom of movement.

  • Beginners and curious practitioners: Anyone who wants to understand Yin more deeply or prefers individual guidance over a group class.

  • People navigating injury recovery: Those returning from injury who have appropriate medical or physiotherapy clearance and want a considered, supported approach to exploring movement.
